Edmonton’s one and only gypsy-travelling festival returns for its fifth year. UP + DT Festival takes you to over a dozen of the city’s best music venues with over 100 bands – and they’ve pulled out all the stops for this year. Wintersleep, Reverend Horton Heat, Mad Bombers Society, Alan Cross’ “The Ongoing History of New Music” and more are all set to perform.

Not only that – SONiC presents Wintersleep at a FREE outdoor show at Michael Phair Park this Saturday at 2:30! More info HERE.

Here’s some of what you can expect to see at this year’s festival.

1. Music junkie festival. If you are a music fan, UP + DT has you covered. With every type of band, from punk to folk to Rastafarian, expect to see the bands you love while discovering your new favourites.

2. Accessible fun.  Each year, UP + DT takes over Edmonton’s downtown. With over a dozen venues hosting the festival’s acts, you can easily be all over Jasper Ave in just one night, but that’s what makes UP + DT so special.

3. Local and international bands, unite! UP + DT is one of the biggest supporters of local music. Bands like the Wet Secrets, Faith Healer, Pyramid/Indigo and more have all performed alongside headliners like Basia Bulat, Tokyo Police Club, Whitehorse and more.

4. Beer! Each year, the festival partners with local breweries to put together their very own Craft Beer Tour. Every venue is stocked full with all the sweet, sweet nectar you’ll be needing to fuel your festival experience.

5. Award worthy. UP + DT was recently nominated for the Not-For-Profit Festival of the Year 2017 at the Canadian Music Week Live Music awards!

If you’re somehow still not completely sold on the total coolness of one of Edmonton’s most unique festivals, watch last year’s recap video below:
