Bit of a weird situation brewing over in Beaumont. Sabrina Powers was recently elected to town council there, but resigned after a month after it was revealed she had a couple unpaid utility and property tax payments. According to bylaws you aren’t eligible to run for office if you owe the town money. Somehow it got missed and wasn’t noticed until a month after she was elected. Sabrina immediately paid the money but her fellow Councillors voted that she should resign. Which she did. Now a by-election will be held to fill her seat. We talked to Sabrina all about it.
