The holiday season is upon us – whether it feels like it or not! Here are 10 upcoming winter events around the city to help you feel both holly AND jolly!

 

1. Candy Cane Lane

Get into the holiday spirit with all the lights, decorations and even sleigh rides at Candy Cane Lane! Enjoy the trip along 148th Street between 92nd and 100th Avenues in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank.

2. Zoominescence

Walk all throughout the Edmonton Valley Zoo and enjoy art installations from some of Canada’s best artists. Join Bryce Kelley December 15 from 4-9PM and take in the sights!

 

3. Flying Canoe Festival 

Channel your inner voyager and soak in all the culture at the La Cité Francophone’s Flying Canoe Festival! Located in the Bonnie Doon neighbourhood, the event runs February 3-4.

4. Ice on Whyte

Stroll along Old Strathcona and check out of some the city’s very best ice carvers – and an ice bar! Event runs January 25-18 and again February 1-4.

 

5. Silver Skate Festival

Snow sports, yummy treats and activities for the kids! Check out the 10 day Silver Skate festival in Hawrelak Park from February 9-19.

6. Sunday Swing N’ Skate

Be at City Hall every Sunday between 1-4PM for a jazzy skate! Plus – FREE skate rentals!

7. Ice Castle

THE ICE CASTLE IS BACK! Wander through a true winter wonderland. The Castle hopes to be up and running for January 1st, so keep an eye on the website for updates and tickets.

8. The Berkie

Grab your thermos of hot cocoa (plus a lil’ somethin’ somethin’) and head to the Canadian Bierkenbeiner Ski Festival! It’s one of Canada’s top premier cross-country ski festivals, so be sure not to miss it from February 9-11!

9. The IceWays

Loads of family-friendly ice trails have opened up in Victoria Park Oval, Rundle Park and the Kenilworth neighbourhood, giving you an option other than the indoor rink. Unfortunately the Victoria and Rundle IceWays are currently closed, but keep an eye on the website for updates.

10. Crashed Ice

Crashed Ice is BACK! Be at the Shaw Conference Centre March 9-10 and watch some of the world’s best Ice Cross Downhill skiers! IT’S BONKERS!
