Hello, my name’s Adam, and I’m the Music Director for SONiC.

Now, generally people have a tendency to over-inflate the importance of their job.  I’m not going to do that.  I don’t decide which songs we should play, nor do I think it’s a job for just one person.  Here at SONiC, there are several people that collectively listen to new music every week, and each one of us offers our own input.  If everyone likes a song, it gets thrown in the mix.  Basically, I just do lots of research to decide which bands we’ll be listening to.  That’s why it’s always nice when you guys tell me what you’re digging!  It always helps, and I always appreciate it.

At SONiC, we hold weekly music meetings, and listen to lots of great new music. If we all like a song, it goes on the air. Sometimes, people aren’t digging the song, and the track gets filed away. And then other times, there’s a tie.  That’s where YOU come in!

Distracted Driver Download

It’s been almost two months since the new Distracted Driving legislation took effect in Alberta. And while it’s unclear how many $172 fines have been issued, at least we got a good song out of it! This was the jingle that our “Voice-Guy”, Trevor Shand, did up for us.

Edmonton Local Bands Versus Local Hockey Team

The Edmonton Journal have tapped three local bands to record an Edmonton hockey anthem. The Flash Jam, Mikey Maybe and Mitchmatic, and former SONiC Band of the Month Tupelo Honey have all stepped on the ice, and unleashed what could be the next puck rock anthem.
