Hi, my name is Kory. You can also call me Koko, Kornseed, Hardkor, or my personal favorite… Korky.

I’m the guy who won his job in a radio contest. It was a cold Saturday morning back in the fall of 2006 when I dragged my sorry ass out of bed and down to Southgate Shopping Centre to enter the cattle call of almost 500 on-air hopefuls vying for the title of SONiC Newscaster. In short, I got the job working along side Garner Andrews and the “radio bug” had been firmly planted.

Fast-forwarding three years later, I decided to take advantage of an opportunity to move overseas and revisit my career as a high school teacher. After spending two years in Berlin, Germany, where the beer proved cheaper than the birth control, my wife and I returned to Edmonton with our newly born daughter Annika. Since our return I’ve been employed full-time as a Stay-at-Home Dad, where the pay is pretty hurtin’, but the flexibility is nice and the rewards are endless.

When the chance to return to SONiC arose, the timing was right and I jumped at the opportunity. Dodging spit-up, wiping snotty noses, and changing poopy diapers during the week, I’m happy to hit the SONiC airwaves every weekend and spend some time with people my own age, the SONiC listeners. It feels good to be home… now please pass me the sanitizer.
