Layne Mitchell

Weekdays from 3pm to 7pm

My wife says I lie to the world about who I am. So here’s the truth…

I am painfully boring and I have no friends. I pass my time busying myself with more hobbies than any normal person should. I enjoy cooking, and working with my hands. I try to make everything from scratch. I don’t know why. But should the apocalypse ever come, you’ll thank me for taking the time to learn to sew a pair of socks. On any given day it’s not uncommon to see me making a pot of homemade soup while walking around in a tool-belt looking for something in which to pound a nail.

I’ve recently learned to love reading, almost as much I love bragging about how much I read (which is not a lot). My favorite new word is “fastidious”. I’m not a smart man or even an educated man. In fact, if I were to go into a sports bar there might be speculation as to whether or not I’m a man at all. I enjoy working out yet I can’t so much as throw a ball, much less name anyone who throws one for a professional team.

I love music, but I’m not a music snob. I may not always know who will be the next big, up-and-coming underground band, but I recognize every piece of vintage electronic gear their music was recorded on by ear. Yes, really.

I play guitar, but I’m more of a connoisseur than a musician. Meanwhile, my alter ego/best friend, “Vinyl Mitchie” can be heard DJing “Club Spare Bedroom” 5 nights a week for an audience that includes my wife, my guitars and my homemade furniture.

Health Challenge: I Do This And It Makes Me Healthy

Posted by Layne Mitchell, in category Layne Mitchell Show, Uncategorized, May 14, 2012 4:45 pm

Our parent company has encouraged us to participate in a corporate ‘Health Challenge’ – essentially, an initiative encouraging us to live healthier lives (or possibly just a ploy to keep us from using up our sick days). Either way, I jumped in with both feet. I started this plan in January and so far, I’m down 52 lbs. This isn’t a recommendation for you. I’m not a health expert (or any other kind of expert for that matter). This is just what I do:

A Little McHappy Day Magic

Posted by Layne Mitchell, in category Layne Mitchell Show, Uncategorized, May 2, 2012 12:42 pm

I spent the noon hour at McDonald’s on 23rd Ave & 111th Street for McHappy Day. I noticed that a crowd was starting to gather around this old guy’s table. They told me to keep my eye on him. I’m glad I did.
