On-Air Personalities

Garner Andrews

Weekday mornings, from 6 'til 10

Dear reader,

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio.  Unfortunately, I have more important things to do than write one, but being a man of means, I have paid Amber, to write my bio for me.  Thank you in advance, Amber, I will assume that your work is satisfactory.

Rick Lee

Weekdays from 10am to 3pm

Rick credits his mom for who he is today. He's a proud NAIT graduate and for your personal enjoyment (or boredom), here's another seven things about Rick Lee that might not matter to you after you read this.

Realizes how important it is to remember what got him to where he is today.  From Campbellton, NB to Edmonton, AB (it was grade 4 in Calgary when Rick wanted to be on the radio), his resume includes Calgary, Regina, Vancouver, and Victoria.

Layne Mitchell

Weekday evenings from 3pm to 7pm

I told my high school guidance councilor that I wanted to be a “Rock Star” or a “Music Producer”. He laughed in my face. So I formulated a devious plan, which involved getting into radio to produce commercials during the day, all so that I could sneak into the studio at night and record my breakthrough demo with my band.

I took a 3 month broadcast program in Saskatchewan and somehow ended up on the air. I worked my way up from Prince Albert to Saskatoon, Rosetown to Swift Current. Once I grew tired of announcing bake sales and doing “The Five Day Agri-Weather Forecast Every Half Hour”, I made my way to a rock station in Fort McMurray. Like everyone else in the Fort, I was determined to “make my money and get out”. Except in this case, the money wasn’t very good. Luckily, I wasn’t even there very long. Soon I got a call to move to Victoria, BC and then eventually Edmonton.

Weeday evenings from 7pm to midnight

Thanks for stopping in to check out my bio! I never know what to write in these things so I just threw in whatever random stuff came to mind!

I have two cats, Fatty and Princess Kitten-Face, but I’m more of a dog person.

Yes it’s naturally curly… Why would I do this on purpose? It was straight ‘til I was about 12 then….poof!

My fave food right now is pizza. And my new obsession is Cream Soda. I hated it as a kid but just recently gave it another shot and can’t get enough!

Saturdays - noon to 6pm, Sundays - 10am to 2pm

The goods need delivering. Someone's gotta do it.

Vocal, opinionated, brilliant, egotistical, plagiarizing bastard *#%@! ... or kind, empathetic, humble & all around nice guy. Depends what sort of mood I'm in. Usually it's the first one.

I like making up phrases and terms, then pretending they're a regular part of the English language. I rarely get called on it. Convincing trumps correct every time.

Saturday Night, 6pm - 12am

Hello, my name’s Adam, and I’m the Music Director for SONiC.

Now, generally people have a tendency to over-inflate the importance of their job.  I’m not going to do that.  I don’t decide which songs we should play, nor do I think it’s a job for just one person.  Here at SONiC, there are several people that collectively listen to new music every week, and each one of us offers our own input.  If everyone likes a song, it gets thrown in the mix.  Basically, I just do lots of research to decide which bands we’ll be listening to.  That’s why it’s always nice when you guys tell me what you’re digging!  It always helps, and I always appreciate it.
