Saturday is Palentines Day in Edmonton. SONiC celebrates the most important love of your life – your best friend! Tune in to hear SONiC Boys and Girls rejoice in the platonic love of their lives, check out some SONiC artist-pals below and let us know who we missed.

Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes. (associated acts Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles Of Death Metal)

  • Their friendship goes very deep. Josh saved Jesse from a bad pool-related bully incident and taught him how to stand up for himself. “Josh is the kind of person who will always be of greater benefit to you than you will be to him. I’m not calling the man God, but he is carved out of stone by God; he’s a 6ft 5in living Excalibur who doesn’t need anything from anyone.” Jesse on Josh.

Max (Arkells) and Frank Turner.

  • Canadian charmers meet UK folk-punk legend. These two big-hearted gentleman are spectacular showmen and shared the stage every-night of their Canadian tour. Their bond gave these shows an incredible feeling of community and friendship that we’ll never forget. Check out this karaoke-type moment from their gig at Massey Hall.

Dave Grohl and Lemmy.

  • Foo Fighters front-man Dave Grohl and Motorhead’s Lemmy were incredible friends. The two met when Lemmy offered his condolences on the passing of Kurt. It was an awesome moment in an old arcade that you can hear Dave tell in the video below. “Lemmy Kilmister was rock and roll. He was a rebel and an outsider, one of a kind and a way of life. He was Motorhead. He was a legend and I was proud to call him my friend.”

Sam Roberts and Hollerado.

  • These two bonded by touring during Canada in the winter. In fact, many Canadians bands become friends due to the difficulty of this task (distance, the cold and the cost). Hear Hollerado’s Menno talk about playing hockey with Sam Roberts below.

July Talk and Laura Jane Grace.

  • These two are cut from the same cloth. Both tapping into sexuality, aggression and passion using over-the-top rock n roll drums and guitar. They go out of their way to see each other perform as much as possible. You’ll often see them coordinating publicly via their Twitter. Special bond.

Arcade Fire and David Bowie.

  • It is hard to imagine Arcade Fire without David Bowie. The Thin White Duke was a big fan of the french-Canadians before becoming great friends and collaborators. Here are the two performing together at Fashion Rocks 2010.

Dallas Green and Pink.

  • The two met met through mutual friends many years before they collaborated on You + Me. The friendship grew organically through love of art and music. To this day the two call this project ” two friends wanting to sing together”.

This is a lot of fun. Leave any we missed in the comments section and we’ll update.
