1. Mike Shinoda – “Crossing A Line”

Mike Shinoda has released his first official solo single since the passing of his bandmate Chester Bennington. The Linkin Park co-founder announced plans to release Post Traumatic, an album inspired by the death of Bennington, on June 15. Shinoda says he “had been writing these songs and they were both helping me navigate both emotionally and logically.  There wasn’t going to be any clear answers. It’s a journey out of grief and darkness, not into grief and darkness. If people have been through something similar, I hope they feel less alone. If they haven’t been through this, I hope they feel grateful.”

2. Alice Merton – “Lash Out”

German songstress Alice Merton has released her second single – and she’s pissed. Merton released “No Roots” in 2016 and in those two years, she’s seemed to have gotten a bit of a chip on her shoulder. She puts her angst on display with the lyrics, “Hard to hold this fire inside me/Oh, oh oh, it’s not really like me to lash out/I gotta let it out/I wanna lash out”. Listen for yourself below.

3. yungblud – “I Love You, Marry Me”

Dominic Harrison hails from England, calling himself yungblud. The song tells the true story of a man named Jason who proposed to a woman named Clare Middleton by graffiting the question “Clare Middleton I love you will u marry me” on a bridge in England’s Park Hill. Clare passed away after a battle with cancer and Jason became homeless. If Arctic Monkeys made a reggae album, it would sound like this.
