Before he was Derek Zoolander, teenage Ben Stiller was the drummer of a post-punk band called Capital Punishment. In 1982, they released their one and only album, Roadkill, which will be reissued this year on September 14. Listen to their song “Muzak Anonymous” below.


Capital Punishment formed in 1979 among four classmates. In addition to Stiller, the band featured Kriss Roebling (whose ancestors built the Brooklyn Bridge back in the 19th century), Peter Zusi (a current professor of Slavic studies), and Peter Swann (who would go on to become a Supreme Court Justice for the state of Arizona).
