Edmonton-born Sharlene Millang began her career in the theatre before making a name for herself in the film industry. As the owner of two Edmonton based production companies, Groove Soldier and Treaty 6 Productions, a company focusing on Indigenous projects, she has a lot of experience. Sharlene has acted in, produced and directed a variety of projects from web series to comedies to short films. In 2013, Sharlene founded the Edmonton Short Film Festival, which will take place this fall over a span of 10 days and feature over 170 films.

Throughout her career, Sharlene’s work has been displayed at prestigious film festivals, earning awards at the American Indian Film Institute in San Franscico, the Red Nation Film Festival in LA and more.

Sharlene has also served on the board of Women in Film and Television (Alberta Chapter). Check out her work below.
