Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has announced the band’s decision to cancel any touring plans until concerts can be “more environmentally beneficial”.

Martin said the group wants to take time over the next two years planning how to make future tours more environmentally friendly and “sustainable”.

“How can we harness the resources that our tour creates and make it have a positive impact?” Martin told the BBC.

Speaking from the capital city of Jordan in Amman, Martin said, “All of us, in every industry, have to just work out what the best way of doing our job is.”

He admitted that the “the hardest thing is the flying side of things.”

He said the band’s dream is to have a show with no single-use plastic and for it to be largely solar pannelled.

The news comes ahead of the band’s release of their new album Everyday Life on November 22. They’ll debut the album in two shows from Amman at 9pm MST. Watch along with their live broadcast below.
