Weeks after announcing that their longtime guitarist John Frusciante would be returning, Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed that a new album is in the works.

Drummer Chad Smith confirmed the news while chatting about his new art exhibit with Rolling Stone. “I was given strict orders for this interview: ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT THE BAND,’” Smith said before talking about the band. “But, yes, John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We’re psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music.”

The new album will mark the Chili’s first with Frusciante since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.
