So apparently Coldplay have accomplished all that they’ve ever wanted to.

Frontman Chris Martin told Q Magazine that after the band’s last world tour “it was like, ‘OK, we’ve got to that place, we’ve got to that job description, now what are we going to do with it?”

He continued to say that “nothing is left in terms of career aspirations,” and that “our job is to translate the songs that we receive and get out there and be of use to people if they want it.”

“We’ve got to be a service, like a TV station. Or a tap.”

Earlier this month, Martin announced an intimate Coldplay show in Los Angeles that would be fans’ last opportunity to see them perform for a “long time”.

In 2019 the band announced that they would not embark on a world tour unless they could do so sustainably.
