Adam Schlesinger, founding member of New Jersey power-pop group Fountains of Wayne, has died. He was 52.

The news comes after Schlesinger was hospitalized in March due to complications with COVID-19. His lawyer confirmed the loss on Wednesday.

In addition to his career with Fountains of Wayne, Schlesinger worked as a Emmy and Grammy-nominated songwriter for film, television and theatre.

In 2003, Fountains of Wayne released the career-defining song, “Stacy’s Mom”. It was nominated for Best Vocal Pop Performance.
