KennyHoopla has released the title track of his album, “how will i rest in peace if i’m buried by a highway?//”.

His real name is Kenneth La’ron, from Cleveland, Ohio. Believe it or not, the name “KennyHoopla” was inspired by a scene from the show SpongeBob SquarePants, where SpongeBob says “Hoopla!” and it stuck with him. This song was the first time he wrote using a six-string guitar, and he’s claimed that he doesn’t really know how to play, but he’s always felt like he understood the guitar.

“There’s an aura about indie rock music, and a sound and energy that I can’t explain, but I feel like I have it in me. It was cool that it came out and other people are feeling it. It was written in a place in which I felt super doubtful.”

KennyHoopla doesn’t own proper recording equipment or even have access to a studio living where he is now, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin (population 67,000). He says that his creative output is a “product of limitation”.

He says this single “reflects on the cliché of ‘find what you love and let it kill you’ and contemplating immortality with love while trying to survive in a world full of claustrophobic ideologies and humans”.

This song has been streamed over 1 million times on Spotify, and gained over 888,000 of those streams in just three weeks. Check out the official video below!
