Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

Here are 3 things to check out this weekend:

1. New music from Billie Eilish

You can enjoy your weekend with some new music from Billie Eilish! Today she released a brand new single called “Therefore I am”. Back when she was first teasing the track, a fan asked, “give us a color that matches the song coming in November”, she responded with a shade of burnt orange.

You can listen to her new song by clicking HERE.

2. There’s a new LEGO Store opening in West Edmonton Mall

A 6,500 square foot LEGO Store is being opened in West Edmonton Mall this weekend. The store opens Friday, November 13th, and is only the second LEGO Store to come to Edmonton. They’re modeling the West Edmonton Mall store after the one that’s in the Mall of America, which features giant LEGO figures on top of the store and multiple interactive features. However, the interactive experiences that would normally be found at the LEGO Store are currently paused due to the pandemic.

You can find the Lego Store right across from Sunrise Records.

3. It’s the opening weekend for snow tubing at the Edmonton Ski Club

Friday November 13th is the grand opening of the Tube Park at the Edmonton Ski Club. The cost is $15 per person for ages 5 and up, and free for ages 4 and under. You can experience snow tubing on Fridays from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
