The Black Keys have announced a new album. On Thursday, the rock duo shared a cover of Big Joe Williams’ “Crawling Kingsnake”.

The song was covered by The Doors in 1971.

The band’s new album, Delta Kream, will be released on May 14 and is a “celebration of their early inspiration”.

Singer Dan Auerbach explained, “These songs are still as important to us today as they were the first day Pat and I started playing together and picked up our instruments. It was a very inspiring session with Pat and me, along with Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton… It felt so natural.”

Drummer Patrick Carney added, “The session was planned only days in advance and nothing was rehearsed. We recorded the entire album in about 10 hours, over two afternoons.”

The album contains 11 blues covers and was recorded at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville.
