In 2017, members of The Tragically Hip heavily invested in Up Cannabis. So much so, that the company named five strains after the band’s songs. You can enjoy strains inspired by “Grace, Too”, “Fifty Mission Cap”, “Morning Moon”, “Eldorado”, and “The Last of the Unplucked Gems”.

Portugal. The Man – “Feel It Still” strain

In 2017, Portugal. The Man teamed up with Oregon cannabis grower Hifi Farms to release “Feel It Still”, their own custom strain inspired by their hit single. They explained that they wanted to create their own strain to “raise awareness for reasonable drug laws”. They added, “Also, smoking weed while listening to music is awesome.” It’s described as a combination of “Top Shelf hybrid strains Gorilla Glue #4 and Girl Scout Cookies”.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – Nightstache

 

In 2019, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats teamed up with Willie Nelson’s marijuana company, Willie’s Reserve, to create their own line of vape pen distillate, known at Cherry AK.

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt invested in Goldenseed in 2020. The company specializes in marijuana and hemp products and was the first marijuana company to offer publically-owned stocks.

Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida is the latest Canadian rocker to get involved with marijuana. He joined the board of LOOP/POOL in 2021. The cannabis company places a special emphasis on financially supporting Canadian musicians.
