Today, the news broke out that Spencer Elden, the man who was photographed as the baby on the cover of Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind, is suing the band for child pornography. Elden claims the artwork is “child sexual exploitation” stating that his family never signed a release form.

He is filing the suit against 17 defendants, including the remaining members of Nirvana, Courtney Love, photographer Kirk Weddle, and the estate of Kurt Cobain. Elden is wanting to take the lawsuit to trial, seeking $150,000 in damages from each defendant, and an injunction to prohibit all parties “from continuing to engage in the unlawful acts and practices described herein”.

Over the years Elden has recreated the photo and had the album’s title tattooed across his chest.
