Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

Here are 3 things to check out this weekend:

1. Pick sunflowers at the Edmonton Corn Maze

The Sunflowers are in bloom at the Edmonton Corn Maze right now, but they won’t stay that way forever! Take some time this weekend to go see them in all their glory, snap a couple of pictures or pick some to take home.

This year they’re also highlighting the work of the Edmonton Food Bank, so feel free to bring some food donations with you.

2. Jam to Our Lady Peace, I Mother Earth, and more

The Together Again Concert Series continues! This Sunday, you can rock out to Our Lady Peace, I Mother Earth, Danko Jones, Whale & The Wolf, and Calling All Captains.

$2 from every ticket purchased will be donated to Boyle Street and Hope Mission helping them support men, women, youth, and children experiencing poverty and homelessness in Edmonton.

The festival will take place outdoors at the Edmonton Exhibition Lands Racetrack Infield, where there’ll of course be a ton of food trucks too.

3.Watch a unique performance with Simply Symphony Under the Sky

It’s the first weekend for Simply Symphony Under the Sky! You can go down to Hawerlak Park and see the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra perform live.

The sets won’t just be featuring regular classical music either, the orchestra will also perform music from Harry Potter, E.T, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, and more!
