Alternative Weekends with Chantal

by chantal.dunn on September 2, 2021, 09:09am. MDT

Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

This Alternative Long Weekend is presented to you by our friends at AGD beer, because all good days start with AGD beer and long weekends.*

Here are 3 things to check out:

1. Rock out at the Together Again Concert Series

It’s the last weekend for The Together Again Concert Series! Not only that, but it’s one of the last times you can see USS. This Sunday, you can rock out with Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, Dear Rouge, Current Swell, and Kiesza.

$2 from every ticket purchased will be donated to Boyle Street and Hope Mission helping them support men, women, youth, and children experiencing poverty and homelessness in Edmonton.

The festival will take place outdoors at the Edmonton Exhibition Lands Racetrack Infield, where there’ll of course be a ton of food trucks too.

2. Watch the Elks take on Calgary

On the Monday of this Labour Day long weekend, the Edmonton Elks will be facing off against the Calgary Stampeders. The Labour Day Classic will be on at 2:30 p.m., in Calgary.

3. Hear Billie Eilish’s new album in a Disney Plus original

Starting September 3rd, you can hear Billi Eilish’s new album in a cinematic concert experience. ‘Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles’ is the title of her brand new Disney Plus original, which features Billie performing Happier Than Ever from front to back. The performances were recorded live from the Hollywood Bowl. Watch the trailer above to get a glimpse into the story!
