Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

Here are 3 things to check out this weekend:

1. Go to a street party with Open Streets

This weekend, Paths for People is presenting Open Streets. You can head to 104th Street downtown to see tons of FREE activities like a bike tour and parade, dog decorating station, mural gallery, scooter demo, obstacle course, street chalk, urban design workshops, an outdoor market, over 20 local businesses, and more.

You can read more information here.

2. Be a part of twenty one pilots’ interactive concert

From Friday September 17th until Sunday September 19th, twenty one pilots are doing an interactive virtual concert through Roblox. “Not only will you get to be part of the performance with unique interactive elements that change with every song, but you’ll also be able to control the setlist, offering a different experience with every viewing!”

You will also be able to discover online quests that lead to prizes.

Pet guardians and animal lovers alike are invited to celebrate the incredible impact pets have on our lives, while giving back to animals in need. You can participate from your own neighbourhood in the virtual walk or run, then stop by for fun and sun at one of their pop-up dog park sites around the city!

There are even prizes available.
