Each Tuesday and Sunday, Taylor rounds up this week’s best new music with the New Music Discovery Show. Here’s one of our favourites.

MONOWHALES – “Hand That Feeds”

MONOWHALES are a three-piece group from Toronto. On Friday, they shared their version of Nine Inch Nail’s iconic song, “Hand That Feeds”.

Explaining why they chose the song, frontwoman Sally Shaar shared, “This is the perfect song to relate to in this new chapter of our dystopian era. It speaks to all of those who circle and prey above us and dares to ask the collective community around us to question what exactly we plan to do about it. Will we acknowledge the cost of what it will take to bring about real change? I have a deep connection to this track and immense respect for what Nine Inch Nails have contributed to the history of music. We hope to take note of their bravery and move towards making new music that spits out our truths unapologetically, smashes you across the face with industrialness, and leaves all manners at the door.”

The release marks the band’s first since the release of Daytona Bleach in March 2021. The band will be making a number of exciting announcements in the coming months, with new music coming soon.
