Metric have released a new song off their forthcoming album, Formentera.

On Tuesday, the Canadian band shared “Doomscroller”, a 10-minute (and 29-second hehe) track. The song inspired the name of their upcoming tour, The Doomscroller Tour.

The band described the song as “a sonic 10-minute voyage that transports you into a ‘high-speed chase through the wild terrain of modern life'”.

The track arrived shortly after the group announced their new Metric App. You can download it here, and gain access to limited edition vinyl, exclusive merch, tickets, and more. Frontwoman Emily Haines stated that “Metric has been working on an app to streamline the essentials and also to create a space where we can get off the usual platforms and stay in touch directly with people who know why they are there. Cutting through the noise is something we’ve done since the beginning so this app feels natural.”

Metric will play the Edmonton Convention Centre on August 17 with special guests Dear Rouge. Get tickets here.
